This project for the Florida Department of Transportation, District 3, included in the scope of work the widening of an existing structure to accommodate four lanes of traffic, a traffic switch to the widened bridge, followed by demolition of the adjacent structure and construction of a new high-level parallel span. Traffic was then moved to the new span while the main river crossing span on the widened older structure was demolished and replaced for a final configuration of three lanes northbound and three lanes southbound. The navigation channel on the Escambia River was increased to 90 feet.
