Hallandale Beach Bascule Bridge

Client: Florida Department of Transportation, District 4
Location: Hallandale Beach, Florida
Construction: 1998—2003

This project for the Florida Department of Transportation, District 4, called for the construction of a new double-leaf bascule bridge across the Intracoastal Waterway, at Hallandale Beach, Florida. The phasing of the project called for the construction of a new westbound span north of the existing structure, removal of the existing structure, a shift of traffic and construction of the eastbound structure. The types of construction in the project included a bascule bridge, cast-in-place box girders, conventional AASHTO girders and reinforced earth walls.
